Morning light on the old harbor

12 October 2026

I arrived at six, before the cafes opened and before the first ferry. The quay was empty except for two fishermen sorting nets and a cat that clearly owned the place.

The light is good for about twenty minutes. The low sun comes in sideways, the wet stone turns silver and the boats stop looking like postcards and start looking like work. I shot at f/8 and kept the camera still; the scene did the rest.

By seven the first delivery vans arrived and the quay turned back into a street. If you go, bring a thermos and wait for the colour to change. It is worth the early alarm.
